Privacy Policy

Breath Global, Inc. · Effective

The short version

Who we are

Breath Global, Inc. ("Breath", "we", "us") is a North Carolina corporation. This policy covers three of our websites: breathglobal.com; northofnoise.io with its demo; and gotern.io's home page and demo request (together, "the sites"). North of Noise is our sales software and Tern our insurance agency software. This policy doesn't cover them as used by a company that licenses them, where that company's own notice applies, the Tern demo that gotern.io opens for invited guests (it gets its own notice before Tern launches), or other websites we link to.

What we collect and why

How we use it

We use personal information only to reply to you, run your account and your demo, keep the sites secure, contact businesses about North of Noise, and keep business records and meet our legal obligations. If you used a form or created an account, we won't send you marketing email unless you agree first. We don't make automated decisions about you.

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only with:

Map, meeting and search links, such as Google Maps, Zoom or LinkedIn, open those services only when you tap them. Your information is handled in the United States and wherever our service providers operate.

Analytics

On our three home pages, breathglobal.com, northofnoise.io and gotern.io (never in a demo, on this page or in our staff tools), Google Analytics records the pages you view, the links and buttons you use, and when you start or send a form, sign up, open the demo or join a demo room. It also records your device, browser, general location (worked out from your IP address) and the link that brought you. We never send it your name, email, company, invite code or anything you type.

Google Analytics sets two cookies on our home pages, _ga and _ga_<ID>, to tell one visit from another. They last up to two years from your last visit and aren't used for advertising. When you follow a link between our sites, an identifier travels in the link so a visit to more than one counts once. Unless your browser sends Global Privacy Control, you see a small card with Accept and Decline, and we remember your answer on that site for a year. If your browser's time zone is in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland (or your browser doesn't share one), nothing is counted and no cookie is set until you accept. Everywhere else, your visit is counted unless you decline. Decline stops it at once: nothing more is sent to Google Analytics from that page, and these cookies are deleted. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, nothing loads from Google Analytics and we don't ask; "Change your analytics choice" shows a short note that says so. Google keeps the detailed records for two months (its standard setting).

Change your analytics choice on this site. On gotern.io: change your choice there.

Cookies, storage and tracking

Our own code sets no cookies (Google Analytics' two are described under Analytics). Your browser keeps a few things for the sites, only to make features work:

If you use "Continue with Google", Google's sign-in pages may use Google's cookies, under Google's privacy policy. To remove what the sites saved on your device, sign out, then clear the site's data in your browser settings.

Do Not Track. We don't track you across other websites, so a Do Not Track signal has nothing to turn off. Apart from Google Analytics on our home pages, which counts your visits to our sites over time but not your activity on other websites, no other company collects information through our sites about what you do over time or on other websites. The services named under Who we share it with receive your IP address when your browser loads their files, and Google's sign-in pages work under Google's own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

How we protect it

Every page uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Our database rules let anyone send a form but only signed-in Breath staff read it. You can read only your own account and login records and, in a demo room, that room's records and member list. The demo is an encrypted file, and its key is released only to an active login. We have no security certification, such as SOC 2, and no independent security audit yet. No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can leave optional fields blank and say no when your browser asks for your location, microphone or camera; the demo works without them. Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what personal information we have about you and send you a copy, correct it, delete it (including your account; there's no delete button yet), or stop emailing you. You can also reply "unsubscribe" to any sales email.

How to ask. Write to hello@breathglobal.com. We'll confirm your request by writing to the email address we have for you, and we'll answer within 30 days or tell you why we need longer. Someone you authorize can ask for you; we may ask for proof. If we say no, we'll explain why, and you can appeal by replying to our answer. We won't treat you differently for asking.

Children

The sites are for business professionals and aren't meant for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us information, write to us and we'll delete it.

The demo holds only sample data

The demo opens AURORA, a world made up for Northlight Media, a fictional company. Every name and number in it is sample data, so please don't enter real information about real people, clients or deals.

On your own (a login that isn't in a demo room), what you do in the demo stays in your browser. Our code doesn't send it to us.

In a demo room, your team shares one copy of the demo. What you do is saved in our database and shows up on everyone's screen in the room within seconds: notes, messages and changes to deals; files and photos you attach; push-to-talk voice clips and their transcripts; the location you check in from; and, during a trip, your position every 30 seconds. Each record notes who last changed it and when. The others in the room also see your name, avatar and seat, which screen you're on and when you were last active, and they can read your email address in the member list. Breath staff can see everything in a room. Ask us at any time to reset your team's room, which clears its records, or to take you out of it.

Your device, only if you allow it:

When the demo reads text aloud, some browsers' voices send that text to the browser maker. The demo's AI assistant is switched off on our website, so nothing you type in the demo is sent to an AI service.

Changes to this policy

We'll post any new version here with its effective date, and we'll announce a significant change on the sites before it takes effect. Before we add anything that collects new kinds of information, we'll update this policy.

For residents of California, other US states, the EU and the UK

This part adds to the policy above. You need it only if you live in one of these places.

California. We don't sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (what California law calls "sharing"), or give it to others for their own marketing. We honor Global Privacy Control as a request to opt out of sale and sharing. We do neither today, and anything we add later will respect the signal.

In the last 12 months we collected identifiers (name, email, phone number, username, account ID and IP address); professional information (company, role, industry and team size); account sign-in details; internet activity (sign-in times, web server records and which demo screen you're on in a room); precise location, photos, files and voice clips, only if you share them in a demo room; and what you choose to tell us (messages, notes and your avatar). It comes from you, your device, Google (if you use Google sign-in) and public sources (for business contacts). We use your sign-in details and location only to give you what you asked for. You have the right to know what we collect, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to equal treatment when you use these rights.

Other US states. Residents of states such as Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas and Virginia have similar rights, including the right to appeal. Write to the same address. We don't do targeted advertising, we don't sell personal information, and we don't profile people in ways that have legal or similar effects.

The EU and UK. Breath Global, Inc. is the company responsible for your information (the "controller"). Our legal bases are doing what you asked (answering your request, running your account and your demo); our legitimate interests (replying to businesses, contacting US businesses about North of Noise, and keeping the sites secure); your consent where we ask for it, such as for your location or microphone in the demo, which you can withdraw in your browser settings; and our legal obligations. You can ask to access, correct, delete or move your information, and to restrict or stop how we use it. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK, that's the Information Commissioner's Office.
